I've been picked for another Etsy treasury...how fabulous!

I'm so excited...my "Remember Paris" Posh Tag was picked for an Etsy Treasury by Lancerika. I always feel so honored when I'm picked and I would like to say a big thank you to you, Lancerika :-) Be sure to check out Lancerika's gorgeous artwork at her Etsy Boutique: Lancerika Fine Art Reproductions. This Treasury will expire soon so please take a peak at what a fabulous little collection Lancerika put together: Hot Rod Honeymoon. I was happy to see the CLAIRE de LUNE earrings in the Treasury since I used to play that song on the piano years ago and I think I still have the sheet music (brought back some good memories). I loved this vintage 1940's vintage purple hat, and the Wedding Night Essentials Vintage Sack, too...ooh la la! Enjoy!
Even though my daughter can't dance right now, we will be taking her to the National Drill Team Competition in Fort Worth, TX tomorrow and Sunday so that she can support her team. The team is looking forward to more fabulous awards (Nationals jackets would be super fab). Good luck, girls :-)
Have a fabulous weekend!

Fabulous Finds of the day!

More OHOW giveaway goodies:

I'm so behind on my blogging but I wanted to share with you these fabulous goodies that I won a few weeks ago from Louise at Beachys Cape Cod Cupboard during the OWOH giveaway! I really treasure the pink/green bracelet because it is one of my favorite color combinations! I have worn the bracelet several times with my Sew La Mode t-shirt from Wriskey.com and I have received numerous compliments. Everything from Louise is always top notch and she always has unique and fun ideas at her Etsy boutique: Cape Cod Cupboard!

My Mom is a fabulous cook and she occasionally makes up her own recipes. One day, we were lunching at a local tea room and we had Chicken Taco Soup with our sandwiches. We both loved it and my Mom said that she could probably come up with a similar recipe and after experimenting a little bit, she did! It's a really easy recipe and tasty, too! I like to make my soup in the crock pot so it simmers for several hours but it's easily made on the cook top, too. Enjoy!

I usually cook chicken beforehand and freeze it for future use...saves time!

I love those crock pot bags...easy clean up!

Carol Wikberg's Chicken Taco Soup Recipe

1-2 undrained cans pinto or kidney beans (I use 1 can kidney beans)
1 small or large undrained can corn (I use 1 large can)
1- 14.5 oz. can chicken broth
1 package taco seasoning
1- 28 oz. can crushed or diced tomatoes
1-2 cups water (to taste)
4 shredded chicken breasts
2-3 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
tortilla chips and shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterrey jack) for garnishing
(make sure you add the undrained/whole cans where noted)

Put all ingredients in a large pot and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Garnish with chips and cheese before serving. Serves 4-5.

Good without the cheese, too! Better the second day :-)

My new merchandise will be listed soon in the Pastelle Paperie at Shabbyfufu! I've been working hard over the last few weeks and I'm very pleased with my new merchandise: wedding, Mother's Day, birthday and more.

Have a fabulous day!

Good news and bad news....

It's been an ugly day here in the Dallas area. It's been raining all day and it hasn't stopped! I am so tired of it! I had to drive 50 mph (in a 65 mph zone) all the way home from the doctor's office because it was raining so heavily and I got soaking wet when I went to Wal Mart this afternoon. And I got home and my paper towels were missing! I didn't notice that they were missing when I checked out so they must have slid off of the bottom of the cart as I was shopping and I didn't even notice it, how embarrassing. I guess they are laying on the floor somewhere in Wal Mart!

Anyways, the good news is that I took my daughter to the doctor's office today and they said she doesn't have a fracture or any torn ligaments in her leg (thank goodness). The bad news is that she will not be able to dance at the National Competition on March 29 and 30 and she is heartbroken about it! I dread telling the director because she is going to have to re-do 2 of the routines again because of yet another injury to a team member...ugh! The drill team tryouts for the next school year are in 3 weeks and I'm not sure if Savannah will be dancing 100% by then. I am praying she will have a quick recovery but the doctor said not to rush it because she could injure herself more severely if she does. What a bummer! As I said before, we are just so thankful that the girls did not have severe injuries.

Savannah's knee looks worse but some of the swelling has gone down and the pain has lessened. (Don't you just love these "injury" photos?)

Sweet Amy tagged me for this questionnaire. I don't think I am repeating anything from a previous questionnaire. I hope you find something interesting here :-)

1. Name your two favorite scrapbooking topics -----I don't have much time to scrapbook anymore, but I am on the scrapbooking committee for my daughter's dance team so I guess it's dance team pics!

2. What are two of the best places you have been to?-----California (different areas), New York City and Las Vegas, NV (sorry, I love them all)

3. Name two things you do every day ---- Hug and kiss my kids and hubby and tell them that I love them. I'm on the computer on a daily basis, too.

4. Name two things that pretty much everyone knows about you. ----I love the color pink and I love French things.

5. Name two places you wish to visit----Paris and Sweden (my ancestors homeland)

6. Two things you may not know about me are: Don't hate me because I'm blonde, har har. See that photo of me on my blog? That is my natural hair color! I have never colored my hair and strangely it's just a little bit darker than when I was a child.
I collect Barbie Dolls. I think I have several hundred of them and a few of them are vintage (pathetic, huh?).

One of my favorite Barbie dolls: Kate Spade Barbie

7. Name two nick-names you have had sometime in your life ---- Jules and Blondie (both in high school)

8. Name two interesting jobs (good or bad) that you have had ---- My brother and I used to build custom homes and I really enjoyed it (until he "dumped" me and moved to CO, lol, I'm not moving there it's too dang cold for me!). I was the store manager of a jewelry store called Rings & Things at a local mall (similar to Claire's Boutique) when I was in college.

9. What are your top two fun things to do after work ---- work never ends but I like to watch TV and read magazines and books

10. Name two things you would like to learn ---- I would love to be fluent in French and I would love to learn calligraphy

11. What were the last two songs that you downloaded or Cd's that you bought? ---- I bought the Daughtry CD and I downloaded Maroon 5 "Makes me Wonder".

12. What were the last two books that you read? ---- "French Women Don't Get Fat" and "Images of Marilyn Monroe"

13. What two TV shows or movies from your childhood do you still enjoy watching after all of these years?? ---Little House on the Prairie and Brady Bunch (yes, I'm admitting it, lol!)

SERENITY NOW!!!!!

Serenity now! "Serenity now", I definitely need to say this after the week I've had! Do you remember "The Serenity Now" episode from Seinfeld? It was one of my favorite episodes from the TV series and I happened to watch it about 3 weeks ago (in the waiting room) when I was getting my car inspected. It came to mind when I was thinking about my week. Wednesday and part of Thursday my Internet was down and after spending about 3 hours of my time on the phone with the Internet company, they concluded that I probably had a virus on my computer that was interfering with the IP address. What a mess, and I'm not sure if the problem is fixed. I guess I will find out in about 2 months when they assign a new IP address to me (Norton and my spy ware programs aren't finding any problems). If it happens again, the Internet company will have to come out to my house and see what is going on. It's really sad that some people in this world have nothing better to do than to sit around all day figuring out how to screw up our computers!

The drama continues...Friday night my daughter's friend picked her up and as they were driving to a slumber party (on one those farm roads) they had an accident. The friend didn't slow down enough when she was turning into the driveway (from the farm road) and she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a metal pipe fence and trees. The tree branches went through the front and passenger windows and the girls were covered with glass. My daughter had numerous abrasions from the glass and we decided that she needed to go to the hospital in case she had glass embedded in her legs and feet. The doctor pulled several pieces of glass from her legs and feet and he found a scratch on her eyeball from a piece of glass (the next day she discovered a piece of glass in her ear!). She didn't seem to have any other injuries so she was released late Friday night. She spent the entire day on the sofa yesterday trying to recuperate. She is taking antibiotic eye drops for her eye injury and she is annoyed because she can't wear her contact lenses! Yesterday we noticed a small bruise on her right knee but she said that it didn't hurt very much. When she woke up this morning is was swollen and the bruise was darker than yesterday. She had to go to a place called Care Now today, so that they could check the scratch on her eyeball (to make sure it was healing). By the time we got there her knee was worse and she was having trouble walking on it. The doctor said she probably hit her knee on the dashboard/glove compartment during the crash and that she has to stay off of her knee for at least a week if she wants to try and dance again next week. She now has crutches, an elastic bandage, Biofreeze cream and an ice pack that will be her best friends for the next week. The dance team has competition in 2 weeks and she is so upset that she may have to miss it. She was recently given a harder part in one of the dances and she was so proud of herself for being selected to replace the girl who had to give up the part. Sadly, she will now be spending her Spring Break on the sofa! We have a follow up appointment for her knee on Tuesday and we are praying the swelling will go down and that everything will be fine. If the swelling is not down, then they will take an x-ray that day. I'm sure that the vehicle will be "totaled" and we are so thankful that the girls weren't seriously injured or killed (especially after seeing the damage that the vehicle sustained)! My daughter's friend had a few cuts from the glass but her injuries were not as severe as Savannah's. We are praying for a speedy recovery and that Savannah's injuries will not worsen. I was talking to the girls mother and she said she had second thoughts that night about letting the girls drive to the slumber party (because of the farm road) and I told her that I had reservations, too. But we both thought that we were just being overprotective (which is so easy to do), so we decided to let them go. I think all Mother's have those instincts (or a "little voice") for a reason and I usually act on mine and I am usually sorry when I don't. It's so hard to let our children grow up and have a lot of responsibility! I try not worry all of the time, but sometimes it's hard!

At "Sick Bay": Savannah's hands weren't injured so she is busy texting, of course!

"Don't take my picture, Mom. I look awful"!

The knee and some of the scratches and cuts. I was feeling pretty nauseous when the doctor was pulling the glass from her legs and feet!:

I can't believe that it's been so long since I've blogged, but I promise I will do better from now on. I have made a new goal of trying to blog at least 3 times a week. My life is not that boring, I do have things to share, lol!

I hope you noticed the oh-so-chic pink/black stripes that were added to my blog template by the fabulous Amy of Razz Pizazz Boutique! Amy is such a sweet friend and she graciously offered to fix up my blog a little bit! I love it, Amy...thank you so much!

Have a fabulous evening!
