Did someone say "Chanel"????

Well, I have to say, I almost fell out of my chair and died a happy woman when I saw this blog post this morning:  Chanel Wedding Inspiration.  As I've mentioned before, I adore anything anything Chanel and this wedding makes me want to plan a wedding again...almost (too much work!).  Someday I'll get to plan a wedding for my daughter (and that better be several years from now) but gazing at these photos will have to do for now.  Click over to the blog to see the full post (the photos are gorgeous).  I really love how a Chanel jacket and jewelry were added to her traditional style dress!

Don't miss Ice Castles Monday night!

Now I'm definitely going to date myself, but do you remember Ice Castles starring Lynn-Holly Johnson and Robby Benson?  It was one of my favorite movies growing up!  I loved the title song, "Through the Eyes of Love" so much that I requested the sheet music from my piano teacher and learned how to play it.  I bet I still have that sheet music stored somewhere and I still think it's a very beautiful song!  I'm going to have to look for the sheet music!  I just noticed that Hallmark Channel is playing the original movie this coming Monday night (Valentine's Day) right after the re-make.  I have my DVR set to record both of them.  I haven't seen the re-make so I hope it's good. I really enjoyed taking this trip down memory lane...ahh...the good 'ole days :)

I found the original movie trailer on youtube:

White Inspiration for my Family Room & Kitchen

I've been inspired to give my family room and kitchen a mini make-over.  I am currently obsessed with all white interiors but have decided that it won't work for me right now.  I've spent too much money over the years on my furniture and decor to get rid of it (and my husband might have a heart attack if I suggest getting rid of, or even painting some of my furniture, LOL!).  Anyways, I originally was going to start painting a bunch of decor and furniture pure white but decided it was a little too stark for me.  So, I'm going with ivory and almond and will mix in some black here and there.

My original inspiraton

My kitchen table and buffet are very similar to these but I'm going to leave mine a stained wood color.

A little pop of color is always nice....

My collection of blue and white plates will be perfect!

This color also works for me, I have plates and fabric, etc. in this color.  Decisions, decisions!

I'm not sure what colors I'll mix in but I have several things to spray paint ivory and almond so that will keep me busy for awhile. I'll be posting some photos soon!

"Designing Woman" Movie

I watch a lot of old movies and I especially love Lauren Bacall.  We have been "iced-in" here in the North Texas area so I've been watching a lot of TV this week.  We got quite a bit of snow today which is rare for this area of Texas but the layer of ice underneath the snow makes it difficult for driving.  I recently re-watched Designing Woman with Lauren Bacall and Gregory Peck.  I love this movie!  It's the typical "guy meets girl, gets married on a whim and finds out they don't have much in common" timeless story!  She's a successful fashion designer and he's a sports reporter who is a little rough around the edges (aren't most men before we women get a hold of them, LOL?). If you love a good romantic comedy then this movie is for you.
I have to admit that in spite of his handsome looks I have never been a huge fan of Gregory Peck.  He looks great onscreen but I once read a critic describe his acting as "wooden" and I would have to agree.  Maybe I haven't seen him in the "right" movie, though. Lauren Bacall is divine, as always.
Lauren Bacall has the most fabulous wardrobe in this movie.  Helen Rose designed dozens of costumes for the movie and they were fabulous!  The costumes alone make the movie worth watching :)
I hope you are able to rent this movie or catch on the TCM channel someday.

Have a fabulous day!

I love the apartment decor!
The dress...ooh la la!

Fire...not so fabulous...

Last November my sister, Jen, and I decided to rent space in a local Antique Store.  I decided to sell my handmade goods and my sister decided to sell the pottery that her and her husband make.  It didn't last very long!  On January 18, 2011 there was a devastating fire in historic downtown Waxahachie, TX.  The fire started at the 1879 Chisholm Grill Restaurant and spread to nearby buildings (including the Antique Store).   My sister called me that morning and told me to turn on the television.  I couldn't believe my eyes!  I watched as the fire spread and spread.  Thank goodness no one was seriously hurt in the fire and all store owners are planning to rebuild.  A lot of history was lost that day as the restaurant and downtown area was used during the filming of several movies.  My sister lost most of her merchandising pieces but it looks like her pottery is fine.  I lot about 80% of my merchandise due to smoke and water damage.  Insurance claims have been filed but it won't make up for all the time I spent making the merchandise.  My artwork is very personal to me and it kills me to see everything ruined.  I will survive, LOL!

You can read the full story here and also watch the news video:

The day after the fire.  The restaurant is on the end (right side).

Cleaning up my "booth" after the fire.

Everything was dirty and nasty!
Some of my sister and brother-in-law's pottery.
The antique store  had mostly smoke and water damage. The attic burned.  What a mess!

Anyway, I'm moving on.  There's nowhere to go but up from here :)
Have fabulous day!
